Enamored by the native trees that are at home in the Scottish Highlands.

Julia Anne has been captivated by the Douglas Fir woodland that is right on her doorstep and how it changes throughout the seasons.

In this piece Julia uses intense blues and greens to reflect the vibrancy of the Douglas Fir against the back drop of a snowy Highland winter’s day.

This watercolour has been painted in a freehand semi-abstract style, using rock salt to give the trees their unique appearance.
